March 16 – Kathleen Bourn: Regenerative Beekeeping
This month we are excited to host Kathleen (Kathy) Bourne as our speaker. Kathy will share her secrets to successful regenerative beekeeping. Beekeeping has been a part of Kathy’s life for over ten years on her Hart County farm. This hobby grew due to her fascination with honey bees and the social connection with other beekeepers. Currently she enjoys keeping 20 or so colonies in an assortment of hive styles that she builds herself.
Kathy is the President of the Lake Hartwell Beekeepers Association and Vice President of the Georgia Beekeepers Association. She co-teaches a weekly beekeeping course at the Whitworth Women’s Facility through the GBA Prison Program. She currently serves on the GBA License Plate Fund and Conference Committees. Kathy shares her knowledge with as many local beekeeping clubs, schools, community groups and agricultural programs as she can, and she is an active member of both Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association and Lake Hartwell Beekeepers. In 2021, she was awarded the prestigious GBA “Beekeeper of the Year” award.
This event will be held at North Georgia Technical College 1500 HWY197, Clarkesville, GA 30523. This meeting is FREE to all NEGAMBA members. Annual club dues are only $20/yr for a family membership.
We’ll get together at 6:00pm for dinner in the Ramsey Hunter dining hall ($10). Class begins at 6:30pm.
