August 19th – Honey Bee Photography: Images That Create a Buzz
Georgia will explain the steps she takes to get impactful honey bee images. Use of cameras (dSLR/mirrorless and smartphones), composition, lighting and final presentation are just some of the topics she will cover. This presentation comes in perfect time for you to prepare your own photographs for the GBA Fall Conference!
Georgia P Zumwalt is a Journeyman Beekeeper and the proud keeper to 25 honey bee colonies on her micro farm operation in north GA which is affectionately named “Baci d’Fiori Honey Company” (that’s Italian for “Kisses of Flowers”). In addition to her beekeeping, she holds the prestigious PPA Master of Photography degree, is a PPA Certified Professional Photographer and is a photographic educator at Piedmont University in Demorest GA and John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown NC. She is a visual storyteller and a visual explorer whose photographic creations bring products alive for visual consumers and bring elements of the ever-wondrous natural world to her viewers. She’s had the honor of photographing commercially for Kubota, Fleishman-Hillard, Estée Lauder, The National Audubon Society and many local businesses—including the “Save The Honey Bee” license plate marketing campaign in the state of Georgia. Her photography will also soon be included in the book Honey Bee Social Evolution, by Dr. Keith Delaplane (Johns Hopkins Press) which will hit the shelves in the Fall of 2024.
